Out of curiosity and without reading this entire thread, how do you deal with hydro-lock or whatever it's called when you suck water up through your intake with a setup like this? I went with the Fujita F5 short ram intake and it sounds equally impressive (made me tear up) with power to match, but I don't have to worry about hydro-lock. How does one deal with that? Air filter covers or is there a better way?

well you could always try an intake bypass but if i remember correctly you may have to trim one of the intake pipes to make room for this

its made by AEM. or the filter covers, personally im going to go with the CAI, had one on my maxima and never experienced any problems of hydrolock.

Well, I already went with Fujita's SRI and it works great. It was very easy to install, too, and I'm not a very mechanically inclined person. :) The CAIs look a lot more complex to put in.

i still have the by pass i bought for my AEM CAI in my room. i ended up not putting it becuase 1. no room 2. its only gonna be a few inchs above the filter which really doesnt make sense of putting it if its only off by 2-4 inches. our CAI is not designed to have by pass =(

I installed mine a couple of days ago, and i got a couple of questions. My 1st question is: fender-well that we cut out, does anyone have water coming through there hole? 2nd question I didnt use the small dust cover on the inner side of the tire will this affect me in anyway. On my k-series Accord the filter was nice and safe in the bumper no cutting at all, so im a little worried about water getting in from the tire. Can I prevent this?

Could that lead to my problem?
the sound you hear is the valve train if you notice when you rev it up it goes away its normal. im not saying that these are the same motors but my new crf 450 x honda dirtbike does the same thing they sound like they throw a rod bearing to when you turn them off (clack!). they all do that never figured out why... ill find out...

...and do you have to do this again every time you change the filter, or can you disconnect everything and snake it through the top?

Never cut mine out so I dont have to worry about it...there's no rattling from it and not rubbing that I noticed!

When I added fogs I had to reangle my intake a little and push it back into the wheel well a little more. It was a pain but worked out.
