Removing Emergency Brake Handle

I somehow scratched the Emergency Handle or my boy who I let drive my car and I want to replace it, I already ordered it and it only cost 20 bucks. Now how do I remove the silver part of the handle with breaking anything.
Here is a picture of what I need to remove.

Im guessing the silver part just snapp's off???
