"Check Fuel Cap" - Merged Threads

Searched for this but I think only one guy had this problem.

I noticed today that "check fuel cap" sign came on, on the digital dash. Fuel cap is properly closed. I unscrewed the cap and put it on several time again, the sign is still appearing. I am going to take it to the dealership when I do my first service there at 8k kms. Should I wait till then or take it now? Should I be concerned?

Nah nothing to be to worried about but Im sure you'll want it fixed asap. Is your cap clicking a few times when you put it on? Let us know what the dealer says the problem is.

I had the same issue. Ends up the message doesnt reset for like 3-4 days then it just went away. I had the dealer clear our the messages anyways just to make sure it wouldnt happen again....but so far thats the least of my problems.

Strange... That message just popped up for me too. I checked my cap multiple times and it was tight. What's even stranger, is I filled up my tank yesterday morning around 9:30am and that message did not show up. It only appeared this evening! I'll give it a few days...

From other threads about this, you have to wait for the ECU to cycle through a couple of times before the light completely goes away (could be up to a week, I believe)

This is strange. My Si check fuel cap message came on Wed. night too. I read the manual and it tells how to reset it. I pressed and held the sel/res but never cleared the fault. I wait till next Thurs and if the fault is still there I'll bring it in for service.

The S2000's do this sometimes also, It's a bad fuel filler cap design on them. My 2002 still does it every once in a while, maybe 2 times a year. The cap will actually work it's way loose. I just get a CEL on it though. There's a TSB on it, but I have yet to fix it. I wouldn't doubt it if this is your problem also.

Question Anyone else w/this prob?

My check fuel cap keeps blinking and I'm not sure why? I've already checked the fuel cap, took it off and put it back on. I made sure to turn it so that it clicks more than 3x's. I made sure the car was off when I did so, so that it resets, but no luck. Just curious if someone knew why before I took to dealer?

I've been told by my dealer to turn it until it clicks 6 times... I've never had any problems usually only go 1-3 clicks. It does take 1 full day (w/o removing the cap) for it to reset I've been told. :)
