Just so I can get an idea of how many to make lets get the list going. Sign the list only if you are seriously interested in getting them.

FYI, the brackets are in response to the problem mentioned in this thread:
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43284 The details of the reinforcement design can be found there as well. |

Someone please compare the oem Si rear lower control arm to the non Si (DX/LX/EX) rear lower control arms. Why does hondanews.com list the Si as having "heavy duty hubs" and "heavy duty control arms" over the non si?
If thats true what makes them heavy duty? Thicker walls, brackets? Made from aluminum? This is from www.hondanews.com. Link: http://www.hondanews.com/categories/957/releases/2778 "Civic Si Exclusive Suspension Tuning To achieve razor-like performance, the Civic Si has the following exclusive suspension tuning compared to the 2006 Civic Coupe: Front spring rate increases 17 percent Rear spring rate increases 14 percent Track tuned front and rear damper settings Solid front 28.0 mm stabilizer bar (up from 25.4 mm tubular) Solid rear 17.0 mm stabilizer bar (up from 11.0 mm) Heavy duty front wheel hub and bearings Heavy duty front and rear lower control arms" Pic of 07 Civic LX rear lower arm: ![]() Pic of 07 civic Si rear lower arm: ![]() -The same? The two knucles you see in the pic the one labeled 4 and 8 belongs to the Si. -The si lower rear control arm is $157 (each) at: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...REAR+LOWER+ARM The Civic LX rear lower control arm costs: $147 The idea (of course not cheap) since the bracket broke on the non-Si that your problem would be solved if you got Si lower control arms. Now someone go and compare the two control arms. Meanwhile I'll see what I can do. Last edited by Andrei'sCivic; 07-09-2007 at 06:15 PM. |

What? I've had no problems, nor do I know of any other 8th gen in my area (or 200km radius) that has had any problems with changing the rear sway bar to either the SI or Progress rear sway bar. Without changing the control arms. (I drive harder now than I did before)
How many instances have there been? what stresses were put on the break point? Were the parts lubricated and installed properly? ![]() Just my $.01 If you're basing the failure of the non si, with the non si control arms, it's not the control arm that failed, it's the metal of where the mechanism was that gave way, a defect of the metal under the stress of the sway bar / control arm. |

I agree its the metal that the endlinks connect to that are causing the issue. I have made some templates and am finalizing dimensions these should be done by the end of next week.
