Thank you for this DIY. My cat-back is sitting behind me right now and I plan on getting up early tomorrow to install mine. This will be my first exhaust installation. Aside from breaking those 14mm bolts loose.. it looks really simple.

I already figured I'd be using the PB blaster.. but good tip about the white grease.

My Experience:

I now know why you didn't take this to the shop: After laboring many hours on installing an Invidia Q300 (which uses extended bolts to accommodate for thicker walls and a gasket between the cat and cat-back piping) on my FG using this DIY, I realized your setup utilized the factory bolts on the cat (or I am assuming so) because after drenching those three 14mm nuts and bolts with PBB for 30 minutes taking 8 minutes intervals, they did not budge a single bit. When I took it to the shop, they had to essentially torch the bolts off.

So, I'd like to add this footnote: The bolts from the cat are essentially seized into the end of the cat and cannot be PBB'ed and hammered out (especially if your car is a little older like mine). You can, however, take the car to a shop, as I did, ask them to loosen all the nuts and replace the three nuts and bolts between the cat and piping with the new set of nuts and bolts provided by the new cat-back setup.

Also, I'd like to stress how much easier your life becomes when you WD40 all the hinges so they slip right off (and slip right on) the rubber hinges. Otherwise, this was a very helpful thread. PM me your e-mail if you'd like images of all the hinges necessary to be WD40'ed or if you have any questions.

Otherwise, after taking it to the shop, the install took about an hour or so and it was not difficult at all, even doing it on my own in my tiny garage.

Hope this helps the thread!

so im going to be buying this exhaust but what im confused about is how do u connect the middle section to the other parts? there are no holes to bolt them in. are there clamps that connect all 3 sections of exhaust together?
Your new exhaust setup should include a bag of hardware including all nuts, bolts, and gaskets. To my knowledge, most cat-back systems come in three pieces that bolt together while each piece has a hinge that connects to the bottom of the car using rubber hinges.

GL with your install and hope this wasn't too late!

my only question is did i have to use those bolts with the springs on them that came on the stock exhaust again on the aftermarket exhaust??
This is really late so hopefully this will help someone else but in most if not all cases, no the spring-ed bolts are only for the factory setup. Your new setup should have new bolts that cover the thickness of your exhaust's walls.
