How would you compare this to the mugen quick shift if you have ever felt it?

Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App
I actually am the op and compared them on the first page. This would compare as the same as the Mugen for almost half the price. Only difference is the shifter is taller but if you don't like it being taller the last 2 pages of this thread show that you can take the top half of your stock shifter off with one bolt and replace it on the buddyclub bottom half to have the shortened throw and sit just as low

^^^^^ Right you don't have to take out the shifter. Just take out the top part of the console as stated above.

Yeah as far as that bolt I was originally thinking about it but I confused myself thinking maybe buddyclub used different material and I shouldn't try to swap any nuts and bolts. I also noticed that since I'm using a blue cap on the top part the shifting feels more snappy as far as snapping back to neutral and stuff. The white caps that come on the buddyclub are very tight in the cables and not as smooth so that might be something to look into.
You are using the OEM spring instead of the BC spring now, right?

The other parts that could be swapped over are the rubber sleeve and the blue cap on the bottom arm...wondering how much of a difference that would make.

No I'm using the buddyclub spring. I took pics and posted them on page 8 I think. The buddyclub spring is closed more so I decided to use that one. I want to swap the rubber piece to the plastic one off the oem shifter though. I just haven't gone through the whole instructions on getting that part out yet. I also didn't swap the bottom blue cap because the one off my oem shifter broke off a while back so I don't have one. If you know anybody that has an extra I would love to have it

When I do the top swap I think I am going to try to use the OEM spring and see how that works.

I did some searching around regarding the pivot cups and it looks like TWM may sell them separately, but they are pretty pricey. I found this post:

Installing short shifter broke pivot ball cup... where to get one? - evolutionm.net

Another post, same topic: http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=53869

According to this, the Honda and Mitsubishi cups ARE interchangable.

You should put all your photos and info into a DIY.

And update it when you add the SS adapter with results.

I think that would benefit this community.

I will definitely do that. I should have an adapter in the next couple days and have time to do it either tonight, tomorrow or Thursday prob. I guess I'll have to start over though because I didn't take pics of the swap I already did....lol. But that's ok because it's only the one bolt.

As far as the pivot cups yes Twm sells them but they are $20 each which is really expensive in my opinion. The crappy part is if you order am adapter or assembly from them you can add the cup for only $9.

Did you see the links I posted? There is a Mitsubishi part that is the same and can be found for like $5 each.
Ok so I checked the first link and the Twm rep said they sell it for $9.95 which is wrong now obviously. Kind of sucks but whatever.

The second link was great though because I don't mind at all going to a Mitsubishi dealer and ordering that part since its only a day wait and a quarter of the price. Unfortunately the closest Mitsubishi dealer is about 30 min from me but maybe I can drive out there tomorrow or Thursday to order it.

Good lookin out bro. Hopefully the dealer didn't raise their price like Twm did.

I seriously can't believe the I would have to pay almost $30 for the cup from Twm after shipping. Hell $20 more and I could prob get a whole assembly from college hills or another vendor I think because that's the price I saw when I looked them up last.

Yup full oem assembly is like $50. I wonder if Hybrid would sell their pivot cups separately but the Mitsubishi option looks promising.
Yeah I got to thinking and if I drive out to the dealership to get that one its gonna cost me about $25 in gas since I would have to go out to order one day and pick up the next so realistically it would be just as good to order the Twm. I think I might check with hybrid though. May as well try everything.

I was looking around at the buddyclub pivot cup and finally figured out the obvious reason why it's a little more loose with the oem cup on it. The buddyclub cup dosent have the metal ball in it so that's one part and the other is it wraps around up on top of the fork ball making it so there is resistance when moving the shifter in different directions. When I can finally get another oem cup or possibly the Twm or Mitsubishi one I will try those and see if there is a big difference but I expect there to be one so ill post when I get it handled

I got the top swap done tonight, I am using the OEM spring as well. The side to side motion now feels much more snappy, not sure if this is due to the OEM side pivot cup moving more freely or the OEM spring, but either way, I like it! Haven't driven it yet but I'm expecting it to feel pretty good.

After driving with the OEM top section and spring on the BC lower section for a few days, I definitely like it. Slight reduction in height as well as throw, and smoother, springier side to side movement compared to the out-of-the-box Buddy Club setup. I doubt that swapping the rubber boots that the spring rests on would do much good. Also, I noticed that the bottom pivot cup on the BC piece moves around nice and easily (even with the cable attached), while the side pivot cup on the Buddy Club top doesn't move around easily at all, even when the cable isn't attached. Not sure why that is but I think this explains why the out-of-the-box BC shifter doesn't have the snappiest side-to-side movement.

I also like the fact that the bent rod on the OEM top moves the shift knob slightly closer to me, and gives it a centered look in the shift boot whereas the box-stock BC setup made it look offset to the right (passenger side).

I had to use a vice grip to get the OEM bolt out, but the BC bolt came out much easier. I decided to use the BC bolt with a drop of loctite since I had stripped out the hex hole in the OEM bolt. I only tightened it down until it was snug - luckily the bolt didn't break!

If you have the BC shifter assembly, I highly recommend making this change as it's pretty quick and makes some minor improvements to an otherwise solid setup.

Thanks for posting all that bud. I completely agree with everything you said.

Now on to more great news.

Special thanks to a couple members on here that are making this possible for me for free and a tiny bit of shipping but here is the news.

I just received my blue pivot cup for the bottom of the shifter. Not only did I receive this but I also got a skunk2 adapter that I am able to try as a test fit to see if it works. I plan on trying the adapter first because if it works I'm gonna keep it in a drive around for a while to check the feel and see what's it all like.

If it dosent work of course I now have that blue pivot cup that I can take off the adapter and put on the bottom of the BC shifter to see if there is any difference in that part at all.

I DO NEED SOME HELP THOUGH PLEASE!!!!!

I need to get the right grease for the pivot cup because the one I got is dry.

Can someone PLEASE tell me exactly what grease for get and if possible maybe get a picture so I know I'm getting the right stuff?

I remember being told that its something like lithium grease or something like that but I can seem to find anything on it......

Thanks and hopefully if I can get that info I will be attempting all this tomorrow after I get my kids from school

This is what I use if I need to grease something. Never has let me down.
